For ages people have been grappling with the issues to make marriages work for a lifetime but it is better said than done. So apart from committing their lives, couples commit many mistakes that rock their marriage. As humans people can never be perfect, and neither can a husband nor wife is. However there are some mistakes couples can avoid or mend before distasteful attitudes, reactions or brawls follow.
Top 10 Mistakes in Marriage
Listed below are ten mistakes couples commit in marriage:
- Badmouthing your spouse which comes with a lack of respect and appreciation of the other
- Communicating to attack your spouse rather than talking about dealing with issues together
- Not being a good listener and turning off to your own duties you think is important
- Disregarding your spouse by not letting him or her know or thanking the other for sharing the burdens and joys with you
- Always having to assume that you are right and the other is wrong
- Getting defensive about your own faults and not acknowledging your mistakes
- Do not always try to play the victim of situations where you make your partner feel that he or she is traumatizing you deliberately
- Infidelity can ruin your marriage completely
- Jumping into conclusions without knowing what your partner actually feels or has to say on an issue
- Do not tease, hurt or annoy your spouse by promising him or her to change your irrational ways and not doing the same
Making a marriage work means trying to avoid the above mistakes one can make intentionally or unintentionally. Marriage also means having to give your consent to living happily together and living together implies accepting the other completely. Simply stick by this rule – to treat your partner the way you would want him or her to treat you.
