Listening is a very important aspect in a marital relationship. It is a way of showing how much you care for your spouse. However, this simple truth is very difficult to follow for many a couple.
Not many realize that this significant aspect when ignored will break a relationship.
Some very important aspect of good listening is
1) Look into the eyes of the speaker, irrespective of what he/she is talking.
2) Don’t give a blank look; instead empathize with them when they are talking.
3) Don’t interrupt them when they are talking.
4) Mirror back what they are talking for e.g. say things like “I understand you are very upset and you are trying to tell me…………………..” This way if there is a misunderstanding in your perception, it gets cleared.
5) Its important that you keep a positive body language, or your spouse may doubt what you are saying and may not be able to communicate with you.
6) Empathize with your partner, your partner may not be looking for sympathy instead kind words and letting your partner know that you understood them will greatly boost your relationship.
Keep these points in mind and be a great listener.
