The man/woman whom you once loved deeply for his/her optimism can change drastically after years of being together and can turn out to be a pessimistic and negativistic person. A person whom you had never married.
This may happen due to several reasons, it could either be due to loss of job, loss of money, bitter experiences, loss of a child, failure in business, being hurt by someone whom they trusted the most etc.
These individuals tend to get overwhelmed with the negativity around and tend to blame the whole world for what happened to them.
They can be very grumpy, pessimistic, difficult to be around, short tempered, and difficult to please.
It may be difficult to be in marriage with someone of this personality. However, a little bit of understanding and assertion can help you save your marriage. Here are some ways you can deal with such type of people
1) Do not take their negative comments regarding your life, dressing and friends personally.
2) Remember you are not the cause of your spouse’s negativistic attitude.
3) Don’t keep insisting of helping out your spouse.
4) Spend time with other optimistic folks. It can be your friends, parents or colleagues. Don’t confine your self to your house.
5) Don’t take in your spouse’s negativity. If you do want to hear his/her cribbing, you can change the topic or move into another room.
6) Encourage your partner to do something different.
7) Help your spouse understand things from other’s perspective.
