There are various reasons as to why one cannot trust their spouse. Identifying the cause can help you seek a way out and help you trust your spouse.
Some of the major reasons, why an individual finds it difficult to trust their spouse are as follows.
1) Past Experiences: Emotional hurts received in the past through a trusted friend or family member may cause one to become a little jerky and cause one to not trust anyone including their spouse. In such cases it is best if one seeks the help of a psychologist who will help the individual change his/her perception and help them to not to be paranoid about social relations. Also, cognitive restructuring that the psychologist would administer will help the individual learn to trust their spouse.
2) Secretive Spouse: One may find it difficult to trust their spouse if their spouse is very secretive and hides things from them. Therefore, it is very obvious that the individual become very suspicious of their spouse. In such cases open communication is the key to gaining back the trust in the relationship. The spouse who is very secretive should be told how their behavior is impacting the relationship, and both the individuals should work out something together.
3) Suspicious Spouse: Some individuals are very insecure about their relationships and tend to doubt their spouse for no reason. In such cases the suspicious spouse has to learn to trust his/her spouse, either by discussing the issue with a counselor or a trusted friend. Also, discussing this issue with their spouses will help them work out things and deal with the situation.
Keep these points in mind and learn to trust your better half.
